FORD ADRENALINE DAY 2018 // Blogpost #1 @philipdeml

Kickdown, high revs and pure emotions! That was my caption for the amazing day with the Ford family this week at the ADAC test circuit in Grevenbroich, Germany. And I can tell you that is literally how I experienced the day.

So let’s jump right into the driving action. After a quick briefing in the morning we were split up into two groups and together with my fellow influencer buddies we were introduced to our rides of the day. The iconic FORD MUSTANG, the FORD FOCUS RS with 350 HP and four-wheel drive for an amazing grip on the track, and the FORD FIESTA ACTIVE, a city speedster with a huge fun level (Let me know in the comments, which one would be your favorite?).
Since it was always a dream to drive a Ford Mustang I wanted to jump right into it, but together with our instructor we started driving with the RS and I can tell you that thing is a beast! Super well balanced, like glue on the road and equipped with tons of power. Plus, the economic 2.3l eco boost engine produces a sound you do not want to miss! 🔥
So that brings us to our first exercise on track: The Emergency Break situation. We could speed up to 100 km/h and had to break to stop the car as efficiently as possible. I learned that you really need to be courageous and hit the break hard with your foot, while pushing the clutch as well so you will not stall the engine and you can keep driving. If you have seen my Instagram story you might have noticed what happens when you break that hard…funny faces alert!
From breaking we went on to zig zag driving as fast as possible while keeping control over the RS. And Ford really did a great job balancing the car, the load distribution is so perfect that you really can hit a fast pace and still won’t miss a traffic cone. I am kind of proud that I did not knock over one cone! 😎
After a short lunch break we continued to drive and we finally had the chance to say hello to the FORD MUSTANG. With extremely cool and strong body lines the Mustang transmits sheer power from the outside. And as soon as you step inside and start the engine you know why this car is a living legend for more than 50 years now..it just awakes the inner child and you immediately want to feel the power and just have fun!
Yet there was one BUT..our next exercise was to keep control over the Mustang on a track, wet and smooth as glass (try that with a machine like the Mustang and a rear drive 😏). So the learning was quite obvious - training your reactions to a situation where you easily loose control over your car and regain it immediately. Of course we also had just so much fun to drift around I can tell you that! ⚡️
With all the learnings from the day we then focused on our last challenge - A time measured course with all the previous tests combined. As you might know I am a very competitive guy and of course I wanted to win - Yet I got a penalty for knocking over a cone which might have cost me the win! 😜
Aaaannd of course the perfect experience was not over until we produced a vivid and cool picture for Instagram, so this is how we grind to get that shot! On my way home by train I edited and uploaded it right away to keep all of you in the loop.
Altogether it was such a fun day, great driving lessons, amazing experience to drive the Ford Mustang and the power machine Ford Focus RS. So thank you @FordDeutschland for this opportunity and thank you for reading so far! 🙏🏻
